Registry Errors - How to Fix Them
Posted on 06:39 by PRINCE
If you have noticed that your computer has slowed down dramatically or that it is not working as well it was before then it may well be that you have registry errors that need to be fixed. It is important to know what registry errors are as well as the steps on how to fix them to make sure your computer or laptop is running as it should be. Keep in mind that there is also the possibility that your PC or laptop may be infected with a virus.
How or why do registry errors occur? The main reason is due to obsolete entries from programs that you may have installed on your computer or laptop. If you later on decided to delete or remove any of these programs then they may not be completely erased from your registry directory. The problem is that even after you go ahead and hit uninstall, chances are that the program has left registry information, files and errors behind. Worse yet, most computer viruses tend to hide in the windows registry under the guise of legitimate program files. Even if you delete any program that you may suspect is a virus, IT IS ALMOST impossible to remove them from the registry directory since there are so many of them.
How do registry errors affect the performance of your computer or laptop? For one, they can slow your computer down dramatically. Second, they make it unstable and even more susceptible to virus, Trojan and spyware. Finally, registry errors can also affect the performance of your computer. How can you tell if your PC or laptop have any registry errors, malignant entries or Malware?
One way would be by opening and checking your registry directory. You can do this by:
1. Clicking Start, and then click Run.
2. Type Regedit, and then click OK.
You will then choose HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE from the entries and then select
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE from the menu.
Here you will find all programs that you installed as well as the history left behind of those you removed from your computer. Getting to the registry directory is not a problem. However, knowing where to look and what entry to delete is. It is almost impossible for an experienced user to know how to do this, much less for average Windows user since there are millions of registry entries. What can you do then? Luckily there are programs that can help you detect and fix any errors on your computer or laptop by doing a registry scan. Dedicated programs that scan your registry directory are very useful and detrimental to the health and protection of your PC or laptop.

How to Fix Runtime Errors?
Posted on 06:38 by PRINCE
Runtime errors are regular occurrences in most computers. Sometimes, your system may stop responding due to one issue or the other. You'll also get a runtime error message warning you about possible imminent crash or any other notification. Such runtime error messages appear when you run some of your system's programs. Your system may crash if you continue to ignore them. You don't need to panic each time you notice such errors. You only need to discover how to handle them.
Possible Causes
Before you think of fixing runtime errors in your system, it's important you know more about their possible causes. This will help you to know the right steps to take when trying to fix them. Among the possible causes of such errors include:
• Corrupt system's registry
• Uncompleted program installation
• Missing folders/files
• Expired drivers
• Virus attack on the system
When your system encounters any of the problems outline above, you can be sure of seeing runtime error messages from time to time. There are possible ways of fixing such errors. Take a look at the following tips given below:
• Try as much as you can to decode the actual cause of the error message. You can easily press "Ctrl + Alt + Del" to fish out the program. Once you press these buttons, you're likely to see the particular program that is causing the error message. You can easily select the program and click the "End Task" button. This will immediately cancel the runtime error message.
• You can also use a registry cleaner to fix the runtime errors in your system. To succeed in this, you have to locate a good registry cleaner with user-friendly features. You can easily purchase the application online and also get it installed after downloading it. You'll then use the application to scan, clean and fix the system's registry. If the errors are caused by incomplete installation of any program, the registry cleaner can easily correct that as it fixes the system's registry.

Registry Errors - How to Fix Manually?
Posted on 06:35 by PRINCE
You can fix your PC registry errors either by using the registry cleaning software or by manually repairing in the windows registry. While using the software is a simple and efficient way, manual repairing is a complicated process that requires thorough computer knowledge and clear instructions. Also, it is a very time consuming task. So, in order to manually fix registry errors you must know about registry, its function, its structure and then how to actually edit the registry.
Windows registry and its function:
Registry is the heart of the windows operating system. Windows registry holds information about everything that is necessary for the proper functioning of you are operating system. It also stores information on your every PC activity like installing, uninstalling, program accessing etc. So every time you install an application, it makes an entry or adds a key within the registry, also known as registry keys.
Structure of the windows registry:
The windows registry database is organized in a hierarchical structure. Each node in the structure is called a key and within each key contains sub keys. Each key can contain both sub keys and data entries called values. For example, a key can be regarded as a folder, sub key as a sub folder and value is a data within the key or sub key.
Within the registry, the keys are stored in their own hives which are predefined for specific objectives.
Here is a list of 5 common registry hives:
1. HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT - This hive stores all the information about applications that are installed in your PC.
2. HKEY_CURRENT_USER - This hive stores user-specific settings and configuration data.
3. HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE - This hive stores all the settings and configuration data that are general to all PC users.
4. HKEY_USERS - This hive stores individual settings and configuration data for each users of the computer in each sub keys.
5. HKEY_CURRENT_CONFIG - This hive temporarily stores the entire boot up information which is only gathered and generated at the system boot time.
Warning - Dangers of manually repairing the registry
Manually repairing the registry can be very risky especially for someone who does not have technical skills. Any mistakes while editing the registry will result in the operating system damage. If this happens, the only way there is to rectify this problem is to reinstall the operating system. So, caution must be taken while manually editing the registry.
Manually fixing the registry errors
1. Manual registry back up
Before manually fixing the registry errors, you must first back up your registry.
To back up, Click Start, Run and type ntbackup. The backup or restore wizard starts up. From there select which files or folders you want to backup.
2. Accessing and fixing the registry errors
You can access the windows registry by clicking the start, Run and type regedit into the search box and click ok. The Registry Editor starts up. From there you can manually look up the error or invalid entries and remove such entries. This is extremely time consuming task. Though caution must be taken to do because its irreversible and you will have to face the consequences if anything went wrong.

Reasons for Your Slow Computer
Posted on 03:34 by PRINCE
Every one of us has found our self in a position where our computer is not running as fast as it did when we bought it. There are many culprits that will cause your computer to run slow over time. One of the most common mistakes I find is a lot of people tend to download a lot of "so called" free software.
When installing any free software many times there are other programs being installed along with the program you are intending to install. Never choose the "automatic" installation. If you choose the automatic installation it will install all these other programs automatically. Most commonly it is toolbars that get installed along with the program you are trying to install which will make your browser slower and in some cases limit your search results. Always select the manual install option and pay attention to all the menus as you can choose not to install these other programs.
Another reason your computer may be running slow is lack or RAM "Random Access Memory" It is easy to check if ram is the culprit for your computer running slow. You can use "System Information For Windows" to find out how much ram your computer has installed and what kind. You can download SIW here If you have a 32 bit system you need at least 3gb or ram and on a 64 bit system I recommend at least 6 gb or ram.

Eyes Safety: In Front Of Your Computer Monitor Or Laptop Screen
Posted on 06:18 by PRINCE
Even though desktop computers and laptops have thoroughly replaced typewriters, I think it's very important that you learn how to keep and maintain safety while in front of your computer. And more specifically, you need to learn how to minimize the amount of time that you spend in front of your monitor.
Me personally, whenever I'm in front of my laptop, I keep the screen brightness to the absolute lowest setting, and I wear UV protecting sunglasses. Does this sound strange to you? Well, maybe it does, but I have noticed a decrease in eye strain and eye fatigue as opposed to staring at my screen "raw" for long periods of time.
Now don't get me wrong. If you have an office job, more than likely you will be required to spend long hours and time in front of your computer screen. In situations like this, sometimes protection is not available. But there are certain techniques that you can use to still maintain proper eye health while being in front of your computer.
In today's lesson, I want to reveal to you what some of these techniques are so that you can remain healthy while in front of your computer. These tips are things that are very simple to implement and use simply and easily. Here's the first thing that you can do to remain healthy while in front of your computer monitor:
1) Make sure the monitor is 20 inches away from you
This is a good rule of thumb to take notice of when staring at your monitor. And believe it or not, 20 inches isn't a long distance. It's long enough to protect yourself, yet short enough for you to still read and comprehend what you're looking at in front of your computer screen.
If this distance is too far for you, then consider purchasing some reading glasses. This will help you to better differentiate what you're doing on your computer. 20 inches is a good distance, and is something that won't hurt your eyes or cause you to strain to read what you're looking at. Here's another tip for remaining safe and healthy while in front of your computer monitor:
2) Make sure that the top of the monitor is at or below your eyes
When I type on my laptop, there's about a 3-inch gap between my eyes and the top of my laptop screen. So I have ample room to look at my screen - without hurting my eyes whatsoever. This is also a good rule of thumb to keep in mind also. If you don't want the screen to affect your health, the distance and angle of the computer screen has to be adjusted.

Virus Removal Can Help Performance of Your PC
Posted on 06:14 by PRINCE
Virus removal is one of the most essential services that you will ever require on your computer. Viruses keep running as and when you switch on your computer, if the computer has already been infected. This will affect the performance of your computer, as well as expose the data stored on your computer to potential security threats.
Threats posed by computer viruses
Computer viruses pose a number of threats to the infected computers. If your computer is infected with a virus, it could cause all kinds of potential damages. It could pick up sensitive data such as your bank account number and your passwords from your computer and transmit the information to remote computers. It could paralyze some essential parts of your computer and thereby prevent you from using your computer normally.
It could create illegitimate copies of your protected programs and data, and then paste it to other computers on the LAN or to other remote computers. It could simply pick up the files from your computer and transfer those to hackers. In short, there are a number of potential threats that viruses pose towards your computer.
Online virus removal
Availing online virus removal services has emerged as one of the most widely accepted ways of eliminating viruses from computers. There are a number of companies offering online virus removal as a service. These companies typically are available to serve their customers 24X7, because they employ front office representatives and back-office technical officers round the clock. Also, since the logistic overheads are relatively low for the online operations, these companies can often afford to offer the services for low prices. All of this makes these services preferable for the end-consumers.

Spyware on Your System
Posted on 06:09 by PRINCE
Remember the time when you are browsing and suddenly pop ups start appearing out of nowhere, you get e-mails from unknown sources asking you about renewing your software that you never installed. Your search starts redirecting you to unknown websites and seems like irrelevant. You have drastic drop in your system performance. All these indicate that you have a spyware in your system. Beware it is dangerous to your system and the data that you have. If only you knew how it entered your system, could you have avoided it in the first place? Now the question is how did this happen exactly.
Spyware enters your system when you click a pop up window, install a software or even while you agree to a policy or adding a function to your browser unknowingly. There are applications that use these methods like generating fake alert messages of virus or malware attack and even pop ups with cancel button. As soon as you hit the cancel button, a spyware is installed in your system unknown to you.
Browser add-ons
While looking for add on tools for your browser there are numerous choices available online. A tool bar, software enhancement, additional search box and other such plug ins are often a few of the examples of spyware. Additionally, these can hijack your browser once you install these. Another thing to remember is that these are not easy to get rid off, as these get embedded in your system and hard to detect and remove.
Drive-by download
This is the most common method to deploy spyware in your system. Usually a website or a pop up window will automatically download a spyware on your system. You will be prompted with a message from your browser seeking your permission to install it. However, often even this message does not appear in the lack of security settings.
Masquerading as anti-spyware
This is a hidden trick that is often used to install the harmful software in your system. Often you will get an alert message that says installing a tool will help you detect and even remove spyware from your system. As soon as you run it on your system to remove it, the software instead gets installed.
Piggybacked software installation
This includes applications where you share data online or exchange files. For example free file sharing software and peer to peer, this acts as a gateway to spyware. Here you need to be careful about the installation list that contains installing spyware in your system. The file-sharing application contains more than what you have asked for. Beware of free versions that are advertised as alternate version to the software that you are looking for.

How to Get The Best Antivirus Support
Posted on 02:30 by PRINCE
Computers have effectively changed our lifestyle but they are always prone of virus intrusion. As their importance is increasing a proper protection for them is also required. A virus can intrude into a computer through any data storage device which carries infected data and comes in contact with the system. If a computer is connected to a network, chances of virus intrusion become very high if it is not protected by effective antivirus software. The Internet has changed the whole method of communication and now the world seems as an area without boundaries. In this scenario chances of virus intrusion in a computer connected with the Internet have become very high.
What is a computer virus?
A computer virus is not like of a virus which infects a human body. A computer virus is a program that can copy itself and infect a computer. A computer virus is also called malicious software or malware. There are many kinds of malware also that can not reproduce themselves but can infect the computer. If files on a network file system get infected by computer virus, chances of spreading of virus will become very high because that file system is accessed by other computers too.
What is Antivirus software?
Antivirus software is a program that can detect and eliminate viruses on a computer. A virus removal software application uses two common methods to detect viruses. One method is of using a list of virus signature definitions. In this method the contents of computer's memory (RAM and boot sector), files stored on removable or fixed drives (floppy drives, hard drives) are examined, and then compared with files against the database of known virus signatures. This method gives protection to the computer against only those viruses whose virus signatures are stored in the database.
The second method is based on heuristic algorithm to find out viruses based on common behaviors. This method is more effective as it can detect those novel viruses that antivirus security vendors have yet to create a signature for.
A user can download and install computer security software from the Internet for protecting his system. There are many vendors who provide solution against different kinds of security threats from computer viruses. Some names like Avast, McAfee, Norton and Kaspersky are very common in virus removal software.

The Best Anti Virus Spyware Removers
Posted on 00:27 by PRINCE
I've never understood what drives gifted computer programmers to spend their time creating viruses, worms, and other malware. They could be doing something good for all of Humanity with their amazing abilities, but instead they're coding and releasing programs that exist for no reason but to destroy. If you're using a computer that has any kind of connection to the Internet (and if you're reading this, you probably are), your system is in some way exposed to these nasty programs. Thankfully, there are a few good guys out there who are developing programs to combat these nasty executables. In this guide to anti virus spyware removers, I'll tell you about a few of the best and give you tips to keep your computer safe.
The first line of defense against virus and malware infestations is a home firewall. There are two types of firewalls - software and hardware. For the absolute highest in personal security, a hardware-based firewall is the best choice. By isolating the examination and quarantine of suspect files to a completely separate machine, the chances of infecting other machines in the network is heavily reduced. However, hardware firewalls can be expensive and require some network modification. A simpler option is a software firewall, which adds a layer of protection between your modem and your operating system. A number of free or shareware firewalls that work as anti virus spyware removers exist, but my favorite is PC Tools Firewall Plus, which monitors network connection processes robustly and clearly.
In addition to a firewall, it's a good idea to install a monitoring program to your system to evaluate incoming and outgoing network requests and remove downloads and installations of unwanted programs. My favorite anti virus spyware remover in this category is Spybot Search & Destroy. Not only does it clean your system out of all sorts of unwanted gunk that can compromise your security and privacy, it also monitors your communications and pops up a warning whenever an external program tries to make suspicious changes on your hard drive.

Best Antivirus Softwares - Secure Your Online Presence
Posted on 00:24 by PRINCE
Nowadays, only the best antivirus software products are able to detect all threats that are known, identify any potential risks quickly, and remove all malware that might have already been picked up by your computer. They are also able to block malware that might make attempts to get into your computer or laptops using various methods like chat, email, P2P file sharing, external devices, network connections, disks and websites. Most importantly, they should be able to do this in the background, without devouring all of your computer resources that are needed for other things.
Every year, the same antivirus and security products tend to offer the best, but there is always room for change. Here are the best products from current ones that are on the market.
Best Products
Bitdefender Antivirus Plus, Norton Antivirus and Webroot Secure Anywhere Antivirus programs are considered best for technological publications and testing facilities. Webroot and Norton are tied for the top spot in the malware removal test, but Bitdefender is not much far behind as well.
As soon as you have installed your protection and cleaned up any threats that already exist, your antivirus will then spend the majority of the time fending off any new attacks. Some products are better at preventing a problem in rooting out malware that has been in your system for a long time. Webroot seems to always score better in blocking new problems.
The best antivirus software must be constantly evolving in order to combat creative shape-shifting malware. In fact, computer viruses are at a pandemic stage. The first nine months of 2011, one software company processed 19.9 million new specimens of malware and still there are computer users who do not use antivirus software. They think that if they are careful where they click, their computer will not be infected, but this is no longer the case.
Many consumers use more than one real-time antivirus program, but that uses too many system resources, often causing conflicts and can even in some cases reduce your protection.
What are the predictions for 2013?
Threats to our computer systems and networks are predicted to get more sophisticated in 2013, as hackers become better at what they do, so it is going to be necessary more than ever to have the best antivirus software that you can afford. You may also have a look at the free software that is on the market, if your finances are not in a good shape lately. Lack of money is no longer a reason for not protecting your computer and personal information.
